Awesome beach wedding in Margate

December 9, 2020

I split my time between North London and Margate, so to be involved in a cool Margate wedding project was the absolute DREAM for me. I just love the character and quirk of Margate, as well as all the underappreciated gems and, of course the people, and wanted to celebrate this with a beachside vow renewal with a bunch of mega wedding babes.

Harriet and Megan got married in Canada last year, but now live in Margate. As a couple who ooze cool, we needed to plan an effortlessly cool vow renewal around them! I chose Margate Lido as the ceremony venue for both its quintessential Margate charm and its proximity to the stunning white and azure backdrops of the beach cliffs. Sarah Powell is a celebrant who focuses on celebration, and so fittingly led a ceremony full of laughter and love. Harriet and Megan’s dog Hudson even came along too.

I loved Harriet’s white tux and Megan’s mermaid dress in the most gorgeous fabric. Pipa from Be You Weddings opted for dewy make up with a bold lip to withstand the British beach weather – although it was actually a stunning summer day – and Elspeth from Blume Studio created Megan’s beautiful flower crown to match her bouquet. They were full of gorgeous warm colours and breathtaking texture, with ruffled dahlias that were totally tubular.

Alongside me all day to capture all the love as it unfolded was Megan of House of Love Illustration. As a roaming artist in residence, she draws the scenes as they occur, leaving you with illustrations which feel like a tangible link to the day.

Without meaning to brag, I think every single shot we took was some kind of magic. At the flat where we got ready to the portraits we took on the beach to the intimate ceremony in front of the faded yet still colourful tiles of Margate Lido, I think we did a banging job of showcasing what Margate weddings have to offer. Have I tempted you?
