Hello!

I'm Joanna and I have ALWAYS been a photographer. My work experience way back in secondary school was with a school photographers and that was it, I was totally hooked.

My first job back in the day was being a family photographer for Venture. Remember those high contrast portraits on a white background? Well I was one of those crazy people behind the camera trying to get your granny to do star jumps.

I actually never saw myself becoming a wedding photographer. When you first start they can be utterly terrifying BUT people kept on asking me to do them and slowly but surely I started to absolutely love them. There are very few jobs where you get to be truly creative and that's incredibly addictive. Knowing that couples want you to document one of the most amazing days of their lives because they like they way YOU capture it is a bloody brilliant feeling.

A few facts...

- I lived in London for 10 years and I love it so much. I'm a massive brutalist architecture nerd and The Barbican is definitely my spiritual home

- Two years ago myself, my partner Simon and our cat Olga moved to Margate in Kent and endeavoured on a HUGE home renovation which was featured on George Clarke's Old House New Home (which you can still watch here)

- I had my daughter, Rose, 3 weeks before Covid hit so even though I had a year of work wiped out I got to spend a full uninterrupted year learning how to be a mum which was pretty awesome

- I LOVE Ikea and in fact I love anything Scandinavian. Copenhagen is my favourite place in the world and give me a cinnamon bun and I'll be your friend for life

- I've been vegan for the last 5 years and I'm trying to be as sustainable as possible. I'm currently all about buying second hand on eBay rather than new stuff and I'm even giving washable nappies a go (for Rose not for me!)
